Manny Becerra will work as the hitting coach and coach first base in his second season at Morton College. The former Panther outfielder was one of 28 NJCAA baseball players from across the country presented with a Marucci Elite Hitter award in 2016.
The 6-2 left-handed hitting and throwing Becerra led NJCAA Region IV in batting average (.500), on-base percentage (.592) and slugging percentage (.717). He was named First Team All-Region IV and Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference.
The native of San Carlos, Cojetas, Venezuela transferred to Missouri Valley College, an NAIA school in Marshall, Missouri, where he started 90 of 94 games in his two years (2017-18). He finished with a .303 career average with seven home runs and 50 RBI and earned a degree in exercise science at Missouri Valley.
He works as a Fitness Center Specialist at Morton College.
