Pat Gordon

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Gordon’s connections to the Chicago Catholic and Public leagues makes him a valuable asset in building inroads to attract a high caliber of student-athlete to Morton College’s program.

His off-season conditioning and player skill development programs already have made an impact at Morton College.

Gordon was an assistant coach at Lincoln Park and Loyola Academy before returning to Lincoln Park as head coach in 2015. The traditional powers in the Chicago Public League are on the west and south sides, but Gordon brought the spotlight to the north side by building Lincoln Park into a power. The Lions were 86-46 in Gordon’s five seasons and won a Class 4A regional title in 2018, the school’s first regional title in 11 years.

Gordon currently is the camp director and lead trainer for Next Level Sports Player Development where he has provided high-end skill development training for all ages and levels since 2006.

Gordon won six athletic letters at Senn High School in Chicago. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in psychology. He also has an associate’s degree from Truman College in Chicago.

“My work philosophy, style and motivation stems from my own personal background and experiences,” Gordon said. “I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the help of the mentors/coaches in my life. I believe it is my life’s purpose to give back. My work has focused on working with youths and their families, through mentoring, coaching, and helping them formulate and achieve their goals.  The happiness and sense of purpose that comes from this work is undeniable.”

On a side note, Morton College’s connection to Lincoln Park produced two members of the Panthers’ 1,000-point club in IBCA Hall of Famer Marvin McGrew and Skyway HOFer Earnest Mackey. The duo combined for over 3,000 points in their two seasons together at Morton College from 1988 to 1990.
