John Gaines
Assistant Coach
John Gaines brings a wealth of travel softball experience to his first season as assistant softball coach at Morton College. He’s been affiliated with the Lyons Township Blazers fast-pitch travel softball program for the past eight years as a coach and board member. The last four years, Gaines has been the organization’s president as well as coach of the Blazers’ under-16 team.
Under his direction, the Blazers have won multiple state championships along with several top 10 finishes at various national tournaments. He also spent three years as an assistant coach at Riverside-Brookfield High School.
The New Jersey native has a degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland. He is a special education teacher at a charter school in Chicago. Gaines and his wife, and their two daughters reside in Riverside.
