Shamar Pugh

Shamar Pugh, a two-time NJCAA national qualifier, starts his first year as assistant coach at Morton College. 
 
Pugh’s wrestling career began at Foreman College and Career Academy on Chicago’s North Side. At Foreman, Pugh was a four-year varsity starter and the only four-year wrestler in program history. He also would go on to set numerous records, establishing school records for wins in a season (31) and school history (77). He also recorded an impressive 98 takedowns as a senior.
 
He would take his abilities to Triton College in River Grove, where Pugh was the Trojans’ “utility wrestler,” competing at 149, 157 and 165 pounds. Pugh qualified for nationals at 157 as a freshman and 184 as a sophomore.
 
Pugh’s takedown success continued at Triton with a team-leading 109 during his sophomore year.
 
Pugh lives in Maywood. He works for 1-800 GOT JUNK and is finishing his associate’s degree at Triton.
