The Panthers handled their business at home over Moraine Valley and moved to 6-0 in conference with a 91-49 victory.
The top-ranked squad connected on 17 three-pointers, and four players were in double figures. The Panthers had a game-high 29 points from star guard Claire Hyde.
It was her third-highest point total of the season, and the performance continued domination thanks to the three-ball. She made a game-high six of them and also posted nine rebounds and six assists.Â
The lopsided victory for the Panthers was their 40th in a row in the regular season and their 36th at home.
Those streaks have been due to their commitment to defense. They have yet to allow 50 points in a conference game and have a margin of victory at 56.1 points per game.
Their Region IV winning streak increased to 31 games, and their Skyway streak is currently at 18 in a row.Â
"One thing about our team that I love is our ability to play together and overcome adversity. The coaches have been tough on us, but we will always pick each other up. Our win over Moraine Valley showed that," Frannie Metz said.
Metz had 13 points and now has 29 in her past two games, which is more than any two-game stretch of the season. Known for her ability to rebound the ball and start the fast break, Metz felt comfortable knocking down shots in the victory over the Cyclones.
"There has been a lot of work behind the scenes. To be able to hit some shots in the game feels good. I am still not at the point I would like to be with my shooting. There still is more work to be done, but we are trending upward," Metz said.
There was another former Nazareth Roadrunner that shined brightly in the victory. Kaylen Evans scored 22 points with four made three-pointers and six rebounds. She has been on a tear and has been performing as one of the finer guards in the country.
Claire Hyde had 29 points and continued her lead on most made three-pointers with six more. Jalyssa Carrasco is among the NJCAA DII leaders, and she dropped 14 points with four more three-pointers.
"Games like these are always fun to play. When there is a high energy, and we are playing at a fast pace the whole game, that is when the best things happen for us," Carrasco said.Â
The game was never in doubt, with a 20-point halftime lead for the Panthers. The top-ranked squad outscored the Cyclones 71-40 in the final three quarters.
Next week features a Tuesday night road matchup against Elgin before hosting Oakton two days later. Their 6-0 Skyway start has been impressive, and they will look to continue their winning ways with only eight conference games left.
