Morton College put five players in double figures as the men's basketball team enjoyed an 84-75 season-opening win at Illinois Valley November 1st.
Returning sophomore
Jordan Brooks led the Panthers with 18 points. He was 2 of 4 from three-point range and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.
Simon Tesfit added a dozen points with three three-pointers.
Stanislav Toderasco and
Devon Nangle (six rebounds) both had 11 points, while
Kevin Cathey Jr. kicked in 10 points and three assists.
Zion Young was just shy of a double-double in his collegiate debut with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Panthers led 33-30 at halftime and 25 of 32 from the free-throw line for the contest.Â
Women's basketball
Catrina Sanders scored 20 points with four assists in Morton College's 83-44 season-opening loss at Illinois Valley November 1st. Sanders was 2 of 4 from three-point range.
Alexandria O'Hare (nine points, 10 rebounds), Niemi Janien Adams (five points, seven rebounds),
Cecily Marroquin (five points), Isabel Valencia (three points, three assists) and Maria Granda (three points, 3 of 4 from the free-throw line) also contributed for the Panthers.
