With a sweep of host Milwaukee Area Tech and Harper at last weekend's Stormer Invitational in Milwaukee, Morton College's volleyball team took care of the second leg of an unofficial "Triple Crown" by finishing undefeated in Region 4 play with a 17-0 record.
The Panthers (25-4) capped their first perfect season in Skyway Conference competition, going 6-0 to bring home the league championship trophy to Cicero for the first time since 1981.
The last and final leg is to go undefeated at home. Morton College brings a 5-0 record in the Vais Gymnasium for Saturday's triangular, but faces a true NJCAA volleyball heavyweight with No. 1 Parkland at 2 p.m. It will be the second No. 1 team the Panthers have faced this season as they also encountered Cowley County.
Women's basketball was the last Morton College team to pull off this version of a Triple Crown in 2023 and '24, while men's soccer did it in 2022. All three teams placed at nationals.
Morton College opens with Danville at 10 a.m.
