Jasiecka named NJCAA All America Third Team in volleyball

Back in August, Morton College women's volleyball coach Steve Dowjotas made note of sophomore Nina Jasiecka as someone to watch for the 2025 season.

Jasiecka certainly had the "wow" factor as she repeatedly displayed a quick, lethal left-handed strike when the ball was set her way. The native of Poland, who came Morton College's way after a season at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, turned out to be the real deal.

Jasiecka was named NJCAA All America Third Team, the first Panther volleyball player honored by the NJCAA since Trish LoVerde earned Honorable Mention status back in 2001. The 44-member team was released Tuesday, December 9th by the NJCAA.

The 6-0 outside hitter led the Panthers with 410 kills and a hitting percentage of .354, which ranked 17th nationally. She had 13 matches hitting .400 or better, topping out at .692 against Spoon River.

She came out flying, hitting .500 and averaging 10.5 kills at the Opening Weekend Tournament to help the Panthers go 4-0 at that venue for the first time. Part of the Panthers' perfect start included a win over eventual NJCAA Division 2 qualifier St. Clair.

Morton College then kicked off the Skyway season by defeating Moraine Valley for the first time since 2001.

Jasiecka had five matches with 20 or more kills with a high of 23 vs. Milwaukee Area Tech. She reached double digits in kills 26 times. Jasiecka added 66 blocks and 206 digs, placing her third and sixth in those categories, respectively.

She led the Panthers to a 28-6 overall finish and a perfect 6-0 mark in the Skyway Conference. Jasiecka also was the Skyway's Most Valuable Player as the Panthers were league champs for the first time in 44 years. Morton College's 28 wins also was a program-best and the Panthers' No. 25 standing in the NJCAA final weekly poll was the program's first national ranking.

Five of Morton College's six losses came against nationally-ranked teams. Kansas City Kansas, Cowley and Parkland all reached the round of eight at nationals. The Panthers' dream season came to an end with a loss to Sauk Valley in the Region 4 District B championship match.
