While Morton College's run at a perfect season ended in Kansas City, the Panthers are still unbeaten in Skyway Conference women's volleyball competition at 5-0 after dispatching Waubonsee 3-1 (25-22, 25-12, 23-25, 25-13) September 24th in Sugar Grove.
For the third time this season, the Panthers had three players with 10 or more kills in the match with
Nina Jasiecka (16),
Sophia Swiderski (14) and
Diana Stetsko (10). Morton College's hitting percentage was an impressive .348 with an eye-popping .600 in the second set.
The trio also produced double-doubles with all three putting up double-digit dig totals. Jasiecka led the way with 15, followed by Stetsko (14) and Swiderski (12).
Valencia Carrera added 9 digs and
Marija Radovic, 8 to go along with 33 assists.
Jasiecka toyed with a triple-double, adding a season-high 9 blocks.
Beatriz Coca produced a season-high 7 blocks as the Panthers (15-3) handed Waubonsee both its first league (3-1) and home (7-1) setback of the year.
Skyway finale
Morton College wraps up Skyway play at Lake County Wednesday, October 1st. The match starts at 6 p.m. in Grayslake. Lake County was the scene when the Panthers claimed the Skyway men's basketball crown in 1997.

Morton College faces Olive-Harvey at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 27th, in the Vais Gymnasium. The match was scheduled to be a triangular, but the third scheduled team dropped out due to a scheduling conflict.
Kansas City trip highlights
Morton College participated in a four-game, two-day road trip to Kansas City last weekend, featuring contests against the nation's top two teams. The four teams Morton College faced have a combined record of 61-14 as of September 26th.
The Panthers went to a program-best 14-0 with a 3-2 (25-18, 20-25, 27-29, 28-26, 15-7) win over Allen, which had four players with 10 or more kills. Allen won the kill battle 73-60, but Morton College outhit the Red Devils .298 to .220.
Morton College countered behind Jasiecka (22 kills, .383 hitting percentage, 5 blocks), Swiderski (19 kills, .366 hitting percentage, 5 aces, 20 digs) and
Neda Stojanovic (season-high 10 blocks). The Panthers' 60 kills were the most in a match since putting up 62 on Illinois Valley September 30, 2023.
Ryanne Janicek added 29 assists and 16 digs, while Radovic had 27 assists. Carrera led the Panthers with 22 digs. Stetsko chipped in with 14 digs and 7 kills. Swiderski and Coca both had 5 blocks.
Morton College then encountered No. 2 Kansas City Kansas and No. 1 Cowley County. While the Panthers lost both matches by 3-0 counts, a sign of Morton College's progress came in the Panthers' hitting percentage. Morton College hit below .200 for the first time this season, going .176 vs. Kansas City and .183 vs. Cowley. However, that exceeded what the Panthers did in 19 matches a year ago.
Cowley is on a 95-game win streak, having last lost in November of 2022. And Kansas City is 16-0.
Swiderski led the Panthers with 11 kills against Cowley, while Jasiecka added 10.Â
